The Grammys regained their usual sparkle this Sunday night (early Monday morning in Spain), at an in-person gala at the MGM Grand Garden Arena (Las Vegas) that hosted a wide variety of performances, from J. Balvin to Lenny Kravitz (with H.E.R.).
Among the varied awards, one went to DJ Black Coffee in the ‘Best Dance/Electronic Album’ category for his seventh studio album ‘Subconsciously’. The South African producer and singer, whose real name is Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, DJs plays every summer in Ibiza, at the Hï discotheque, and has become the club’s first resident DJ.

The Grammys got their usual sparkle back on Sunday for The Grammy he won early this morning is historic, as it is the first time a South African producer has won or been nominated in the award category. This is by no means Black Coffee’s first accolade. He has won awards such as several SA Music Awards (Samas) and the Best Album award at the Dance Music Awards in 2019. In addition, Black Coffee and David Guetta took home the Clubbing TV award for Best Going Deep music video for ‘Drive’.
